Writing into a Void
What is This Thing, Anyway?
This is an awkward attempt to be somewhat less invisible online, and find some other people or places also interested in writing and reading about fiction. I can barely remember to take my gummy vitamins in the morning, so a consistent schedule is unlikely, but the plan is to toss something up about once a week while I feel it out. Substack seems quieter than social media, and I like that. I also think that saying the words matters, so I wanted a space where I could actually do that.
Content is likely to be eclectic, but with a literary focus. Thoughts on story structure, maybe some discussion of books I’ve read / I’m still reading, craft books I think are actually useful, the chaos of being an English major, why I’m learning Latin (or trying to — send help), and whatever else strikes my fancy. Hopefully, I’ll eventually figure out some kind of consistent tone, but in the meantime, this is my little place on the internet to put some words down and see what happens.
The plan is to keep this space free forever, partly because I think monetization is its own form of censorship. Not to moralize, but that’s just not what I’m trying to do here.
It’s an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink blog, and the kitchen sink is filled with books.
Feel free to leave a comment or subscribe; I’m always eager to talk to other people about things that I care about. Click the orange blobs, if you like.
